MUMBAI : For the first time, the popular Kala Ghoda Arts Festival easily recognized as India’s best platform for artists from all walks of life to showcase their talent and creativity decided to host the format in the western suburbs. It was held at Runwal Elegante, a landmark structure in the suburbs which is garnering much attraction due to its architectural beauty and elegance.
The festival had several activities and performances for the visitors at the venue. Besides the bevvy of art workshops, flea market, art installation displays and the art gallery, the festival attracted various artists and performers, some known, so upcoming at its venue. The weekend attracted residents from the furthermost corners of the city, and locals seemed very glad to have the popular festival move into their neighbourhood. “I was delighted to know that the festival is happening so close to home, especially since I had missed the event which happened at Kala Ghoda”, said Shaily, a working mother who was visiting the festival with her young ones. “ My daughter Katha is a great art lover and looks forward to us going to this festival every year. Since we missed visiting it this year, I am only too glad to have it reappear at my doorsteps. I am here with all my friends and family – some new to the festival but happy to join me at this vibrant and lively venue.”
Sandeep Runwal, MD Runwal Group, which developed this iconic structure and host to Kala Ghoda Arts Festival Reloaded seemed pleased to be part of the festival. He went to say, “Every architect-builder strives to make his structure a unique landmark just like an artist strives to make his work unique. Developing a project is a form of art in itself. The festivals’ weekend highlights included performances by the World Class Drummer and Percussionist Sivamani, who was tantalizing and exuberant at every different moment leaving the audience awe-struck with his performance. Actress Urvashi Rautela graced the occasion to promote her upcoming film and had a peek at the various installations at the venue expressing her pleasure on the artistic layout of the venue.
The audience at the venue were enthralled by the 15year old Suleiman who is the youngest winner of the popular TV show, India’s Got Talent. Suleiman blushed with surprise to have his young fans surround him.
Actress Divya Dutta, who came in for the finale offered a silent prayer to the recent news of Sridevi’s sudden demise, expressing that she and the world are at shock that the beautiful diva is not being amidst us anymore. Divya Dutta was there to read excerpts of her book ‘Me and Maa’, memoir of her own mother she lost.
